Nothando Chiwanga was born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1997, and lives and works in Harare , Zimbabwe .
She studied at the National Gallery School of Visual Arts and Design and is currently an artist in residence at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe .
She has participated in various workshops like Realism by John Kotze, Art ethics by Julius Mushambadope and Performance Art by Sithembile Msezane .
Chiwanga has exhibited in the New Signatures curated by Valerie Sithole at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in 2019 .
The Green shoots curated by Fadzai V Muchemwa at the National Gallery Of Zimbabwe in 2020.
The will sun rise and shine post Covid -19 in 2021 curated by Valerie Sithole at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in 2021 .
Notes for Tomorrow conceived by ICI at Sifang Art Museum and Haverford College in 2021.She had first Solo Exhibition Self –on / Cell phone at Poststudioart in 2021 .
She has participated in The young contemporary Boot camp 2021 and exhibited at Rele Arts Foundation in Nigeria .Chiwanga
Chiwanga work is deeply influenced by personal experiences , reinvention and everyday .
In reflection on womanhood , She addressed themes such as education, food , bereavement ,home tools and traditions .
She uses her body as medium of memory and fiction to reveal the complex world of young womanhood in a changing society where traditional values are hanging by a thread and changing to become more relevant to the times .
Her portraiture images display a expressionist , per formative act and a vivid elaborate use of light , pose , and environment .Chiwanga’s works in Photography and performance it holds undeniable sense of realism .
