Community Exhibition

Stories of Kalingalinga in Kalingalinga In February 2024 we showcased the Stories of Kalingalinga exhibition in the Kalingalinga neighbourhood in Zambia. Bringing the photographs back to the community where they were taken in 2019 created a unique atmosphere, where personal stories and memories collided with creative narratives captured during the workshop. The community exhibition was a unique opportunity to celebrate creative expression with the people in the images.

" Stories of Kalingalinga provided an opening to explore and a space to tell stories and keep them at the same time.
When the Stories of Kalingalinga workshops started, the impression, or rather the feel, was that the participating photographers were out to discover this place called Kalingalinga and tell its stories, but looking through the time and space between now and then, one cannot help but realise that the artists have also been going through a process of finding their own space in the world of photography as an art form and a medium of expression.
At the same time as they found a story to tell about the metamorphosis unfolding in and around Kalingalinga, the photographers also realized that their relationship with space, space itself and spaces within Kalingalinga are related.
One cannot help but realise that most of the artists now transition between multiple spaces to tell their stories and relate with Kalingalinga"
