Open Window University :

Group Project

The photographs that are exhibited by the Students from the Open Window University forms part of projects that were submitted as part of their course work.
Various topics are explored in their photographs:

In “The Mystery of the Masked Men,” Patience Mweemba investigated hidden identities of the male figure in contemporary Zambia, while her follow-up project “Black Transhumanism” explored concepts of the intermediary stage between human and posthuman – a topic covered in the OWU theoretical subject Visual Communication.

Dennis ‘Mubanga’ Kabwe took his camera to the bustling city centre of Lusaka, and by paying close attention to the title of his project “Street Fashion”, he captured the everyday street fashion of normal people going about their business.

Tony Sekai Meba, in his quest to find meaning in, as well as ascribing meaning to his work, explored acts of memory, remembrance, recollection and reminiscence in his project “Souvenirs.” Meba’s follow-up project “Yellow Roses and Red Sunflowers” serves as extension in finding meaning in his work through the explicit editing and manipulating of his subject situated in a place between fashion and art.
